By rearranging, altering, and reconfiguring the relationships between things, he allows seemingly fixed meanings to shift. For Can, meaning is not an inherent property of objects, but something that continually emerges through new relationships, giving rise to visual structures that are poetic, restrained, and quietly humorous.

Time, relationships, desire, existence, personal growth, and the pursuit of self-fulfilment are recurring themes throughout Can’s practice. These concerns emerge from lived experiences at different stages of his life and continue to evolve as his life changes. His work thus becomes an ongoing portrait of his changing states of being: rooted in personal experience, it traces shifting emotions, relationships, and circumstances while touching on the more universal aspects of human experience within them.
